Adrian was the lead structural engineer for this award winning five storey Cross Laminated Timber light industrial building from start to finish.

The design addresses many of the topics that clients often think about when considering building in timber: fire safety, durability, sustainable supply and costs.

Adrian developed this transformational approach to Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) for housing with his colleagues at The Positive Collective. It was shortlisted for the Home of 2030 competition.

The balloon, rather than platform, frame system with simple open web joisted floor comes from a distributed set of manufacturers. This ‘asset-light’ approach allows the benefits of offsite prefabrication to be realised without the eye-watering levels of capital investment required of vertically integrated methods.
